The New Australian Beauty: 4 Homegrown Brands to Know Now

Forget the clichés. A new generation of Australian beauty brands is proving there’s much more to local beauty than bronzed skin and beach hair. Meet four names doing things differently.

There was a time when “Australian beauty” conjured a fairly predictable image: sun, surf, golden skin and perhaps a native botanical or two.

Not anymore.

Some of the most interesting beauty brands emerging from Australia right now are taking a decidedly more considered approach. They’re rethinking the everyday products we tend to take for granted, from sunscreen and moisturiser to scalp care and fragrance, and creating formulas that make sense for the way we actually live.

What connects them isn’t necessarily an aesthetic. It’s an attitude. There’s a certain pragmatism to the new Australian beauty landscape: products should work, routines shouldn’t need to be complicated, and good design is allowed to make the whole experience a little more enjoyable.

At Vault, we’re particularly interested in the brands carving out their own corner of that landscape. Here are four Australian names worth knowing.

Foile Milky Emulsion Cleanser

Foile

Skincare Without the Overcomplication

Skincare can become complicated quickly. Foile takes the opposite approach.

Founded in Australia by Alexandra Grima and Suzanne Tuttle, the brand was created around a more flexible idea of skincare: considered formulas, uncomplicated routines and products designed to be used rather than endlessly analysed. Foile describes its range as essential skincare without the overwhelm, with products developed and made in Australia and housed in distinctive refillable vessels.

It’s an approach that feels particularly relevant now. After years of elaborate routines and ingredient maximalism, there’s something appealing about returning to a few very good products and letting them do their jobs. Start with the Milky Emulsion Cleanser, a gentle first step that leaves skin feeling comfortable rather than stripped. Follow with the Skin Sponge Serum, designed to deliver the kind of juicy hydration its name suggests, and finish with the Daily Jelly Moisturiser for lightweight everyday moisture.

Together, they form the basis of the Foile Daily Hydration Set, which is exactly the sort of routine we like at Vault: straightforward, effective and easy to return to every day.

Making Daily SPF Feel Like Beauty

Australians hardly need another lecture about wearing sunscreen. What we do need are sunscreens we actually want to wear.

Sydney-founded Outside Beauty & Skincare was created by sisters Maddison Brown and Allyson Popovic after melanoma had touched their family personally. Their answer was to bring sunscreen closer to the rest of the beauty routine, creating Australian-made SPF products that combine high sun protection with the textures, finishes and formats we expect from contemporary skincare and makeup.

The SPF50+ Face Crème is perhaps the clearest expression of the idea. The fragrance-free formula combines broad-spectrum SPF50+ protection with olive squalane and ceramide III, giving it the feel of a nourishing daily moisturiser rather than something you reluctantly apply before leaving the house.

Then there’s the SPF50+ Face Mist, designed for the part of sunscreen use that most of us are considerably worse at: reapplication. Lightweight and portable, it makes topping up throughout the day much easier.

Our favourite wildcard, though, might be the SPF50+ Lip to Cheek. Part tinted balm, part complexion product, part sunscreen, it delivers sheer, buildable colour while protecting commonly forgotten areas like the lips.

It’s very Australian problem-solving: if SPF is non-negotiable, make it better.

REGROW scalp and hair care

REGROW Scalp & Hair Care

REGROW

Putting the Scalp Back Into the Haircare Conversation

Great hair starts at the scalp.

Australian haircare brand REGROW focuses on the scalp and the conditions that support stronger, fuller-looking hair. Its range brings ingredients including caffeine, niacinamide, biotin, saw palmetto and botanical extracts into products designed to slot into an ordinary hair routine rather than transform it into a second job. REGROW describes its women’s range as Australian-made and developed specifically for concerns including thinning, fine hair and increased shedding.

That makes the Growth Shampoo and Growth Conditioner a logical starting point. Instead of treating shampoo and conditioner as purely cosmetic steps, the formulas are designed with both scalp and hair condition in mind.

For a more targeted addition, there’s the Hair Tonic, a lightweight leave-in formula featuring caffeine, saw palmetto, niacinamide and biotin. It’s applied directly to the scalp, making it an easy way to introduce more deliberate scalp care without adding an elaborate wash-day ritual.

Vault also carries the Intensive Hair Serum and Overnight Hair Growth Mask, alongside curated routines that allow you to build out the regimen depending on how targeted you want your approach to be.

It reflects a broader shift we’re very much on board with: treating the scalp as skin, and haircare as something that can be both cosmetic and considered.

Three More Days fragrance collection

Three More Days Eau de Parfum Collection

Three More Days

A Softer Kind of Australian Fragrance

Rather than trying to recreate European perfumery, a new wave of independent fragrance houses is developing its own perspective on how scent should fit into everyday life. Brisbane-based Three More Days belongs firmly in that camp. The brand describes its perfumes as deliberately intimate rather than loud, with each fragrance developed with a perfumer and every bottle filled by hand.

There’s something refreshingly un-performative about the idea. Fragrance doesn’t always need to announce that you’ve entered the room. Sometimes the better perfume is the one someone only notices when they’re close enough to ask what you’re wearing.

The Three More Days collection stocked at Vault makes that discovery particularly fun. There’s Tenebra, Fiero, Velora, Auréa, Elunéa and Solène, each offering a different entry point into the house while sharing its more personal approach to scent. The current Three More Days collection spans these Eau de Parfum names alongside the brand’s perfume oils and fragrance-led home collection.

For anyone used to choosing fragrance by recognisable designer name or viral status, it’s also an invitation to approach perfume differently: smell first, decide later.

Australian beauty is getting more interesting.

What we like most about this generation of Australian beauty brands is that there isn’t really an “Australian beauty look” anymore.

Foile is making skincare simpler. Outside Beauty & Skincare is finding better ways to make sun protection part of the beauty routine. REGROW is pushing scalp care further into the everyday hair conversation. Three More Days is building an independent fragrance language that feels intimate rather than obvious.

The best Australian beauty brands don’t need to rely on where they come from as their entire identity. They’re creating products compelling enough to compete on their own terms, while still reflecting something distinctly local in the way they approach beauty: considered but unfussy, practical without being boring, and increasingly confident about doing things differently.
